Only 2% of Delhi Parks Have CCTV, Audit Finds

A recent audit of Delhi Development Authority parks has exposed major safety gaps, according to reports dated October 4. Only 2 percent of DDA parks are equipped with CCTV cameras.
The audit identified 190 parks as high-risk areas, raising questions about public safety in the city's green spaces. Delhi's parks are used daily by walkers, children and the elderly, and the lack of surveillance leaves large stretches effectively unmonitored.
The findings land as the capital deals with multiple civic pressures, from protests to air quality alerts. Park safety has been a recurring concern for residents, particularly women and senior citizens who use the parks in early morning and evening hours.
The audit puts the spotlight on the DDA, which manages hundreds of parks across the city. Whether the authority responds with cameras, lighting or guards will be the next test. For now, the numbers tell a stark story: 98 out of every 100 DDA parks have no CCTV at all.
