IMD Issues Rain Alert for Delhi, Bihar, Himachal

The India Meteorological Department has issued rain alerts for Delhi, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh covering October 6 to 8. Delhi has a yellow alert for Monday, with thunderstorms and rain expected from Sunday through October 7. Temperatures in the capital are forecast between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius.

North Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh are seeing very active monsoon conditions. Several districts recorded extremely heavy rainfall of over 210 mm on Friday and Saturday, and more rain is expected over the next two to three days. October is not usually a wet month for Bihar.

Himachal Pradesh faces a fresh wet spell. The Shimla weather office issued an orange alert for October 6 in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmaur and Lahaul and Spiti, warning of hail, heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph. A yellow alert covers October 7 in nine districts.

For travellers, airports in Delhi, Lucknow and Patna carry a low weather risk today, though flyers are advised to keep a 30 to 45 minute buffer and check airline apps.
