India-West Indies ODI Series Smashes Records With 2,109 Runs

India’s 2-1 ODI series win over West Indies ended as the highest-scoring three-match bilateral series in history. The three games produced 2,109 runs, beating the 2,090 scored by India and England in 2017.
India made 1,057 runs, the most by any side in a three-match bilateral men’s ODI series. West Indies made 1,052 of their own and still lost twice. The scoring rate of 7.43 an over is the highest for any ODI series of three or more matches.
Ten centuries were scored. Guwahati became the first ODI with five different centurions, including Shubman Gill’s 223 not out. Shai Hope’s unbeaten 162 in the final match was the highest by a wicketkeeper-captain in ODIs.
West Indies pulled off their highest successful ODI chase in the final game at Mullanpur. KL Rahul’s 129 not out crossed 10,000 international runs.
India’s fielding and death bowling came under scrutiny. It was the third time India lost while defending a 350-plus target, second only to Australia.
