Trump heads to Nebraska in 32-day midterm sprint

President Donald Trump will visit Nebraska on Monday to rally Republicans and promote his economic record. His stop in Grand Island is part of a 32-day sprint to the November 3 midterm elections.
Trump is spending much of the campaign in Republican strongholds. He has urged supporters to treat the midterms as a referendum on his administration, arguing that voters should view the election as a verdict on his economic record.
His party faces a challenging national polling environment. A Reuters/Ipsos poll last month put Trump’s approval rating at a career-low 32 percent, while approval among Republicans fell to 73 percent from 82 percent a week earlier.
Trump carried Nebraska by more than 20 percentage points in 2024, but public polling shows a competitive Senate contest between Republican Senator Pete Ricketts and independent Dan Osborn.
Farmers and truckers in the state face sharply higher diesel prices, and voters worry about inflation. Trump’s team argues that investment and manufacturing growth outweigh the pain of higher prices linked to the US-Israeli war on Iran.
