Kansas Senate Race Tied 45-45 in New Poll

A new New York Times/Siena poll shows the Kansas Senate race deadlocked at 45 percent each, with Democrat Adam Hamilton tied with Republican incumbent Roger Marshall. Libertarian David Graham takes 5 percent, and 6 percent remain undecided, according to the survey of 605 likely voters conducted September 22 to 30.
Kansas has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1932, making the state one of the least likely battlegrounds on the map. But polls have repeatedly shown Hamilton, a Methodist pastor, running even with Marshall. An Emerson poll released last month had Hamilton ahead 45-43.
Republicans have taken notice. The Senate Leadership Fund has reserved 8.2 million dollars in advertising to support Marshall in the final month, according to AdImpact data cited by the Washington Examiner. President Trump won Kansas by 16 points in 2024, and Marshall says his internal numbers show him ahead, though tighter than expected.
The Kansas result was part of a broader Times/Siena survey of five deep-red Senate races. Democrats lead in Alaska and Texas and Ohio, and trail by one point in Iowa. The findings suggest the fight for Senate control in November could run wider than either party expected a few months ago.
