Trump corrects post after mixing up Brazil election with India

President Donald Trump has corrected a Truth Social post in which he mistakenly referred to Brazil's presidential election as India's. He had written that 125 million people voted in the first round of India's presidential election, with results out the same day.
The figure he quoted matches Brazil, not India. Brazil's electoral authority reported 125,272,513 valid votes in the first round of its presidential election on Sunday, and began releasing results at 5 p.m. the same evening. Trump used the example to attack the time taken to count votes in American cities.
India does not hold a direct presidential election. The Indian president is chosen by an electoral college of elected members of Parliament and state legislatures, not by a public vote.
In Brazil's first round, right-wing candidate Flavio Bolsonaro finished ahead with 47.24 percent of the vote, against 44.91 percent for incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, with 98.81 percent of votes counted. Neither crossed 50 percent, so the two will face each other in a runoff on October 25.
Trump's post drew quick corrections from social media users. The episode added an awkward footnote to an already tight Brazilian race heading into the October 25 second round.
