India seal ODI series 2-1 against West Indies

India sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1 against West Indies, wrapping up the contest at the New Chandigarh stadium. The series belonged to Virat Kohli, who smashed 139 not out off 88 balls in the first ODI at Thiruvananthapuram, with 10 fours and nine sixes. Shubman Gill also scored a century as India won the opener by eight wickets. The second ODI produced history. India chased down 406 runs, the highest successful run chase in their ODI history, to take an unassailable lead. The third ODI saw KL Rahul’s century among the highlights as West Indies fought back to avoid a whitewash, after India had taken an unassailable lead. Shubman Gill captained India in the ODI leg of the tour, while Shai Hope led the West Indies. The result continues India’s strong home form in white-ball cricket. Attention now shifts to the five-match T20I series starting October 6 in Lucknow, where Naman Dhir could debut for India and the Caribbean side will look to hit back.
