WI’s Jewel Andrew out of 1st T20I, Jangoo named replacement

West Indies suffered a setback ahead of the T20I series against India, with young opener Jewel Andrew ruled out of the first T20I in Lucknow, The Sports Tak reported on Monday. Batter Amir Jangoo, who has a T20 strike rate of 104.25, has been named as his replacement. The first T20I is scheduled for October 6 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. The batting-friendly pitches in India may suit Jangoo and help revive his T20I career, the report noted. West Indies will look to regroup after losing the ODI series 2-1 to India. Shai Hope will captain the Caribbean side in the five-match T20I series, with matches in Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. India have also made a change to their squad, with Washington Sundar withdrawn and Naman Dhir in line for a T20I debut. The series is part of a busy white-ball stretch for both teams, with India heading to New Zealand for five T20Is immediately after.
