CBI arrests DGCA deputy director in Tamil Nadu bribe case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a deputy director of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Tamil Nadu over an alleged bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh. Officials confirmed the arrest on Sunday.
The officer, who is posted in Tamil Nadu, was caught while allegedly accepting the bribe. The CBI acted after receiving inputs about the alleged bribe demand.
An FIR was registered before the arrest, officials said. The agency will now approach a court to seek transit remand of the accused officer. He will be brought to Delhi for questioning.
The DGCA is India’s civil aviation regulator. It oversees airlines, airports and aviation safety across the country.
Further details about the case and the CBI’s action are awaited. The agency has not yet named the officer publicly or disclosed what the alleged bribe was linked to.
The arrest is the latest in a series of corruption cases involving aviation officials this year.
