OpenAI expands ChatGPT personal finance tools to all US plans

OpenAI has expanded its ChatGPT personal finance feature across all US plans, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. The tool lets users link bank and credit card accounts to ask about spending, subscriptions, and net worth, the company announced.
The feature connects through Plaid to more than 12,000 financial institutions, including Chase, Fidelity, and American Express. Once linked, ChatGPT builds a dashboard of portfolio performance, spending patterns, and upcoming payments.
OpenAI says more than 200 million people already ask ChatGPT money questions each month. The feature is read-only: ChatGPT can view balances and transactions but cannot see full account numbers, move money, or change account settings.
The rollout began with Pro subscribers in May 2026. OpenAI says users can disconnect accounts at any time. The expansion brings AI-powered money management to free users for the first time.
Users can start by selecting “Get started” under the “Finances” option in the ChatGPT sidebar, or by typing “@Finances, connect my accounts” in a conversation. The feature runs on OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 reasoning model, which the company says handles financial context better. OpenAI plans to add Intuit integration later, which could enable tax-aware answers, such as how selling a stock might affect taxes.
