Kohli’s Golden Duck: 41st International Duck, Second-Most for India

Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck in the third ODI against the West Indies in New Chandigarh on October 3, bringing an unwanted record back into focus.
Kohli was bowled by Jayden Seales off the very first ball he faced, as India had already sealed the three-match series by winning the first two games by eight wickets each, according to Cricket Addictor.
The dismissal was Kohli’s 41st international duck, moving him level with Zaheer Khan’s 43 for the second-most ducks by an Indian across formats. Only Zaheer Khan’s 43 is higher on the list.
It was also Kohli’s first golden duck in ODIs in seven years. His previous first-ball dismissal in the format came against the West Indies in Visakhapatnam in 2019, off Kieron Pollard, MyKhel reported. Three of his four ODI golden ducks have come against the West Indies.
With 19 ODI ducks, Kohli is now one short of Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 20 in the format. Seales struck again in the same spell, dismissing Rohit Sharma for a first-ball duck as well.
