IMD: Rain, Storms in Northeast and South; Delhi Stays Dry

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall and thunderstorms across several states as the southwest monsoon keeps withdrawing from the country.
Northeastern states are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, the IMD said in its daily bulletin.
Rain is also likely over parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In the south, widespread rain is expected over Kerala and parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with the strongest cells building between 2 PM and 10 PM, according to Native Planet.
Commuters in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad should watch for waterlogging on low-lying roads and underpasses, and check IMD nowcasts before travelling.
Delhi-NCR is expected to stay mostly dry, as the monsoon has fully retreated from the national capital. No heatwave or warm-night conditions are expected anywhere in the country, the IMD said.
