Meta launches Muse Gadgets open-source AI hardware

Meta has launched Muse Gadgets, an open-source hardware project that lets developers build devices around its Muse AI agent. The company is giving 5,000 units free to active Muse subscribers in the US.The kit includes firmware for ESP32 boards and a software development kit for Linux machines. A small USB-C device called Muse Home Link connects the agent to home networks and smart devices.Meta says the open approach is deliberate.
The company argues that nobody has settled what AI hardware should look like, so letting the community experiment is the fastest way to find out.Muse has been growing fast. The app crossed 5 million US downloads in 22 days, outpacing the early growth of ChatGPT, Grok and Claude, according to the reports. The launch puts Meta into AI hardware alongside rivals building smart glasses and speakers. Developers can now wire Muse into Raspberry Pi boards, sensors, displays and smart-home gear.
