Hope’s 162* powers West Indies to record 352 chase vs India

Shai Hope’s unbeaten 162 powered the West Indies to a five-wicket win over India in the third ODI in New Chandigarh on Saturday, completing the highest successful chase in their one-day history. Chasing 352, the West Indies reached 352 for 5 in 48.2 overs, with 10 balls to spare. Hope’s 143-ball knock, with 17 fours and three sixes, was his 21st ODI hundred and his second of the series. Amir Jangoo supported with 67 off 56 balls, while Keemo Paul added 44. An early dropped catch of Hope proved costly for India. India had posted 351 for 7 after losing the toss. KL Rahul made an unbeaten 129 off 87 balls, while Rohit Sharma scored 92 and Ruturaj Gaikwad 57. Jayden Seales took 3 for 62. India still won the series 2-1 after victories in the first two games, including a record chase of 406 in Guwahati. Shubman Gill, with 334 runs, was named player of the series. The result was a reality check for India’s bowlers a year out from the 2027 World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh were away at the Asian Games. The five-match T20I series begins on October 6 in Lucknow.
