Janhvi Kapoor takes Bengal muslin to BoF 500 gala in Paris

Janhvi Kapoor brought Indian craftsmanship to the global fashion stage at the BoF 500 Gala in Paris on October 3, during Paris Fashion Week.
The actor wore a custom creation by Pankaj S Heritage, styled by Rhea Kapoor. The ensemble reworked the traditional six-yard saree with a contemporary silhouette: a low-slung drape, bare shoulders and a floor-skimming pallu.
The real star was the fabric. The off-white saree was crafted from 460-count Bengal muslin, one of India’s most prized textile traditions. Rhea Kapoor described the unbleached muslin khadi as “woven like air” and “the truest form of luxury”.
The minimal ivory base was set against elaborate handcrafted adornments: gold beads, pearls, shells, emeralds, polkis and tassels arranged from the shoulder down the arm.
A sheer chikankari dupatta added another layer of Indian textile craft, draped casually over one shoulder.
This was Janhvi’s second Paris Fashion Week event after the Miu Miu show. She has frequently championed Indian designers and traditional silhouettes with modern styling.
