Verstappen Wins Rain-Delayed Bahrain GP at Sepang

Max Verstappen won a rain-delayed Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang on Sunday, his first victory of the season and Red Bull's first win this year.
The race, held in Malaysia after the Bahrain round was cancelled, was delayed 40 minutes by a tropical thunderstorm, then suspended again when wet-weather running exposed software issues across the grid under the new 2026 technical rules.
Verstappen beat championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 2.307 seconds, with Lewis Hamilton third for Ferrari after a charge through the field.
George Russell retired with a power unit issue behind the safety car, denting his title hopes. Antonelli extended his championship lead to 84 points over Russell.
It was Verstappen's 72nd career win and his first since Abu Dhabi last year. The teams now head to Singapore for a sprint weekend under the lights, with the race on October 11. Next up is Singapore under the lights, with the sprint on October 10 and the grand prix on October 11.
