India complete Asian Games cricket gold double

India completed a golden double in Asian Games cricket after the men’s team beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the final on Saturday.
The T20 world champions posted 211 for 6, the highest total of the Aichi-Nagoya Games. Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 off 28 balls and Tilak Varma finished 51 not out off 22.
Pakistan fought hard through Hasan Nawaz, whose 96 off 51 balls kept the chase alive. But they finished on 192 for 6.
Axar Patel was the pick of India’s bowlers with 2 for 29. Jasprit Bumrah bowled tight overs at the death even without taking a wicket.
It was India’s seventh consecutive T20I win over Pakistan. The win also extended a strong recent record in the format between the sides.
India’s women had already defended their gold earlier in the Games. India thus retained both cricket titles at the Asian Games.
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 63 runs to take the bronze. Both Indian teams now head home with gold medals in hand.
