Tata Projects, Canada’s MDS Aero to build engine testing infra

Tata Projects has signed an agreement with Canada’s MDS Aero Support Corporation to jointly develop aero-engine testing infrastructure in India.
The partnership, formalised through an MoU on September 28, combines Tata Projects’ engineering and construction capabilities with MDS Aero’s expertise in gas turbine engine testing.
Tata Projects will lead the infrastructure elements, including civil works, mechanical-electrical-plumbing systems, high-pressure air systems and cooling-water systems. MDS Aero will handle the design, engineering, supply, integration and lifecycle support of the test facilities.
MDS Aero, founded in 1985, has delivered engine-testing projects in more than 27 countries. Tata Projects has earlier built cryogenic and semi-cryogenic engine test facilities for India’s strategic programmes.
The move supports India’s growing aerospace and propulsion ecosystem, where domestic engine testing capacity has long been a gap. Industry watchers say such facilities are key to validating new aircraft engines without depending on foreign test beds.
The companies have not disclosed the first project location or timeline. But the facility could eventually support indigenous engine programmes and cut dependence on overseas test beds.
