ATF up Rs 16 a litre, commercial LPG costlier from Oct 1

State oil companies have raised aviation turbine fuel prices by Rs 16 per litre from October 1. ATF for domestic airlines now costs about Rs 137 per litre, up from Rs 121. It is the third straight monthly hike and the steepest of the three.
ATF rose Rs 5 a litre in August and Rs 6.28 in September. Fuel can make up 40 per cent of an airline’s operating costs. Airlines will now decide whether to absorb the rise or raise fares.
Commercial LPG has also become costlier. The 19-kg cylinder is up Rs 62.50. In Delhi, it now costs Rs 2,810.
The hike follows a Rs 9.50 rise in September. Prices had been cut in July and August. Domestic LPG is unchanged at Rs 942 for a 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi.
Petrol and diesel prices are also unchanged. The revisions follow global benchmark prices and the rupee-dollar rate. Brent crude settled near 98 dollars a barrel on September 30.
A weaker rupee near 96 per dollar adds to the cost. From October 1, domestic LPG users must complete biometric Aadhaar authentication to book subsidised refills.
