IGPL awards Pranavi Urs Rs 1 crore for golf gold

The Indian Golf Premier League will award golfer Pranavi Urs a cheque of Rs 1 crore for winning the women’s individual golf gold at the Asian Games 2026.
Pranavi, 23, from Mysuru, became the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games golf gold. She finished 15-under 265 at Kasugai Country Club East Course. India’s last golf gold came from Shiv Kapur in 2002.
Her final round was a test of nerves. She started the day three shots clear but a triple bogey on the par-four third hole wiped out her lead. She steadied herself with a birdie on the sixth and signed for an even-par 70 to win by one shot.
Singapore’s Shannon Xuan Yin Tan and China’s Yin Ruoning tied for second on 14-under 266. The IGPL will also award Rs 25 lakh each to Pranavi, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar for the women’s team silver, India’s first medal in the event.
The announcement was made by Anurag Singh Thakur on behalf of IGPL at the Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi. “India waited 24 years for a golf gold at the Asian Games, and Pranavi got it for us today,” Thakur said.
