ChatGPT Adds Experian Credit Scores to Finances Tool

ChatGPT has added Experian credit reports and VantageScore 3.0 credit scores to its Finances tool, extending its personal finance product into the data lenders use to judge borrowers.
Users can connect their Experian records and get personalised explanations of the factors affecting their score. ChatGPT can also link that credit data to other financial information a user has shared, such as rental applications, debt repayment plans and efforts to build credit.
The feature is available through Finances in ChatGPT for Plus and Pro subscribers in the US on web, iOS and Android. The existing product connects bank, credit card, loan and investment accounts through Plaid, which links to more than 12,000 institutions.
OpenAI says users verify their identity on Experian’s form, not inside a chat. Checking the score through ChatGPT counts as a soft inquiry and does not lower the user’s score, according to the company.
Why it matters: OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a data-connected finance adviser, raising the stakes for its answers.
