India beat Pakistan by 19 runs to keep Asian Games cricket gold

India defended their Asian Games men’s cricket gold with a 19-run win over Pakistan in the final at Nisshin on Saturday. India posted 211 for 6 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, then restricted Pakistan to 192 for 6 in 20 overs.
Fifties from Abhishek Sharma, who made 61, and Tilak Varma, who finished on 51 not out, took India past 200, according to Mint’s live coverage. Pakistan chased hard but lost wickets at key moments and fell short in the final overs.
The win gives India back-to-back gold medals in the men’s cricket event. It capped a golden Saturday for India that also brought titles in hockey, wrestling, golf and archery.
India’s late surge was decisive. The Times of Bengal reported that 11 of India’s 21 gold medals at the Nagoya Games arrived in the final two days of competition.
The result matters beyond the medal. Beating arch-rivals Pakistan in a major final keeps India’s record in big finals strong and seals a dominant finish to a campaign that ended with 85 medals overall.
