FIIs Extend Selling Streak; Nifty Posts Eighth Weekly Fall

Indian equities ended the week lower as foreign institutional investors extended their selling streak, pushing the Nifty to its eighth consecutive weekly fall.
The eight-week losing run is the longest for the benchmark since 2001. The Nifty has fallen to a six-month low as persistent foreign outflows weighed on sentiment.
Foreign investors have pulled out a net 27.8 billion dollars from Indian equities so far this year, according to market data, making it one of the heaviest selling spells on record.
Analysts say elevated valuations, global uncertainty and a strong dollar have driven the outflows. Domestic institutional investors have absorbed part of the selling, cushioning the fall.
Market watchers will now look to the September quarter earnings season for direction. TCS kicks off results next week, and commentary on deal wins and client budgets will be closely tracked.
Traders say a reversal in foreign flows or a strong earnings season could help the market find a bottom, but volatility is expected to continue in the near term.
