Five drones, missiles violate Moldova airspace in 15 minutes

Moldova’s president said on Saturday that five drones and missiles violated the country’s airspace within 15 minutes and exploded near villages in four districts.
President Maia Sandu said the objects flew over the country between 07:45 and 08:00 and exploded near localities in the Causeni, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi and Hancesti districts. No casualties were reported.
Moldova’s defence ministry said its monitoring system detected the aircraft. Police reported explosions outside built-up areas and found drone fragments near Dubovca and Crocmaz, where a blast started a vegetation fire and damaged an agricultural building.
Sandu condemned Russia’s attacks on neighbouring Ukraine and said the war directly endangers Moldovan citizens. She urged people not to touch suspicious fragments and to call the emergency number 112.
Moscow did not immediately comment on the allegations. On October 1, Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador over three earlier drone incursions. The ambassador denied the drones were Russian and asked for evidence.
In a separate incident on Saturday, Lithuania briefly closed Vilnius airport and scrambled NATO jets after a dangerous object was spotted in the sky, possibly coming from Belarus.
