Heavy rain forecast for Nilgiris, Coimbatore, other TN districts

Moderate rain with strong winds is likely across Tamil Nadu’s Western Ghats districts and several southern and central districts on Saturday and Sunday, the Meteorological Department has forecast.
The weather is being influenced by a cyclonic circulation over the southeastern Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast, which could bring rainfall over the next two days.
Heavy rain is expected in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul and Theni districts on Sunday, October 4. The Nilgiris and Coimbatore are likely to see a longer spell, with heavy rain possibly continuing until October 6.
Moderate rain is also expected in Madurai, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Tiruchi, Ariyalur and Perambalur, with strong winds accompanying the showers.
For Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri, moderate rain has been forecast for Sunday. Residents have been advised to stay alert to local weather updates.
The department said the cyclonic circulation over the southeastern Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast could intensify rainfall across Tamil Nadu over the next two days.
