Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi gets government NOC after rework

Salman Khan’s long-delayed war drama Maatrubhumi has received a No Objection Certificate from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry after major revisions, clearing the way for a theatrical release.
The film, originally titled Battle of Galwan, is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The Defence Ministry had objected to its portrayal of India-China relations, and the film was held back for reshoots.
Sources told Bollywood Hungama the revised version is “highly altered” and now presents India-China ties in a positive light. “The officials of the I&B Ministry are now satisfied with the new version,” a source said.
Salman is eyeing November 13 for release, in the post-Diwali corridor, but the film still needs clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification. A clearer picture is expected within 10 days.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangda Singh, the film was once targeting an August 2026 release.
