India vs Pakistan Final Explained: How India Won Gold

India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the Asian Games men’s cricket final on October 3. Here is how the gold was won.

India chose to bat at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin and scored 211 for 6. Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 off 28 balls, including seven sixes. Tilak Varma hit an unbeaten 51 off 22 to take India past 200.

Pakistan needed 212 but finished on 192 for 6. They slipped to 76 for 3 at the halfway mark. Hasan Nawaz made 96 but had little support. Jasprit Bumrah bowled tightly and Axar Patel took two wickets.

It was the first time India and Pakistan met in a men’s cricket final at the Asian Games. India’s 211-6 was the highest total of the tournament.

The win completed a golden double. India’s women had beaten Sri Lanka by 147 runs on September 22 to take the women’s title.

India captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bat after winning the toss. Pakistan opened with spin from both ends but could not contain India’s batting.
