Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Gets Government Clearance

Salman Khan’s war drama Maatrubhumi has received government clearance, bringing it closer to a theatrical release after long delays.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry issued a No Objection Certificate for the revised version of the film, according to reports. The ministry is satisfied with the new cut submitted by the makers.
The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan and is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The defence ministry had raised concerns about its portrayal of China, causing the delay.
Sources say the revised version is heavily altered from the original and now shows India-China ties in a positive light. Salman is said to be eyeing November 13 for release.
The film still needs CBFC certification before release plans are locked. It stars Chitrangda Singh alongside Khan and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
The project was first announced as Battle of Galwan before being retitled earlier this year. Chinese state media had earlier accused the teaser of distorting facts.
