India’s men’s hockey team faces Malaysia in the Asian Games 2026 final on October 3. The match starts at 3:30 PM IST. A spot at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics is on offer for the winners.

Harmanpreet Singh leads the Indian side. The team has been in strong form through the tournament. A gold would complete a hockey double for India after the women’s team beat China 1-0 on October 2.

Malaysia will be a tough test in the final. Knockout matches often turn on small moments. India will rely on their penalty-corner strength and experienced defence.

An Olympic berth is the biggest prize beyond the gold medal. Direct qualification removes the pressure of a qualifying event. Indian fans will hope for another golden evening. The match is the second big final of the day after the India-Pakistan cricket clash. Malaysia earned their place in the final with disciplined performances. They will look to upset the favourites on the big stage. India cannot afford a slow start in a final. The winner will also carry strong momentum into the Olympic cycle.
