Sri Lanka Thrash Bangladesh to Win Asian Games Bronze

Sri Lanka won the men’s cricket bronze medal at the Asian Games with a 63-run win over Bangladesh at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Friday morning. It was the country’s third medal at the Games.
Sri Lanka posted 165 for 9. They were in trouble at 21 for 4 before Janith Liyanage changed the game. He struck 65 off just 32 balls with seven fours and five sixes. Kamindu Mendis contributed 33 to steady the innings.
Bangladesh collapsed in the chase. Left-arm seamer Nuwan Thushara began with a wicket-maiden and picked up two wickets in the powerplay. A late run-out reduced Bangladesh to 18 for 4, and they were bowled out for 102 in 17.3 overs.
The result adds to Sri Lanka’s strong cricket showing at multi-sport events. The team fielded a development squad at the Asian Games, with several young players getting international exposure.
For Bangladesh, the heavy defeat continues a disappointing campaign. They failed to match the intensity of the Sri Lankan attack in seaming conditions. The bronze medal match was decided well before the end of the second innings.
